It is unlikely that Iran will give up the road to nuclear weapons, as the status of nuclear power is as much the goal as the weapons themselves. Additionally, there is no reason for the Mullahs to trust the US and even less reason for the US to trust them. Time oil depletion and demographics will eventually render Iran a low grade regional power. As long as they do not produce a deliverable weapon they will be a serious sponsor of terror but not a major player internationally. A deliverable weapon will trigger a joint US/Israel strike; even the buffoon currently in the White House understands this dynamic.
